JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Purpose & Scope:

:

Plans, directs, controls and supervises the activities of a team of professional Safety and Loss prevention and Environment engineers to ensure full implementation of the division’s HSE programs and procedures, incorporate provision of HSE support to field management in line with the clients HSE policies to promote the HSE culture in the assigned area. Supports and provides proper guidance to the field management in the preparation, development and implementation of the division’s Health, Safety & Environment Management System (HSEMS) and other programs/procedures and improving environment related issues. Ensures the implementation of the divisional HSE plan, own team HSE plan and provides professional consultations for the development, implementation and monitoring of HSE plans of other departments in the assigned division, conducts necessary HSE audits and inspections to ensure proper implementation of such plans. Includes maintaining interactive coordination with Corporate HSED to align all divisional plans, procedures and activities with the corporate HSE policies, plans and procedures. Initiate, update and review Manuals related to HSE as deemed necessary in coordination with other parties. Participate in the development of the Field Facilities plan as appropriate to the fire and safety related assets. Executes special studies requested by management or self generated, leads and conducts studies aimed at improvement of HSE practices and HSE performance enhancements in coordination with concerned parties. Prepares monitors and administers annual operating and capital budgets for the HSE team.

Directs the provision of adequate assistance to the Contractors/ Vendors in compliance with HSE programs/ procedures through interpretations and proper guidance as appropriate.

 

Provides immediate and active response to all emergencies and provides expert fire fighting advice to the division’s management in the event of fire; mobilizes and directs the fire fighting teams to contain the fire at the shortest possible time to minimize losses and safeguard people.

 

 VIII. Minimum Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Experience/ (Key Competencies)

1. BSc in Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

2. Minimum of 12 years experience with at least 8 years in an operating petrochemical plant. 5 years at least in a Supervisory position

3. Have working knowledge of ADNOC/ ADCO HSE standards & guidelines; applicable UAE HSE laws & regulations; and international standards/ codes like NFPA, API, etc.

4. Fluent with ability to speak, read and write in English

5. Good IT Knowledge.

6. Leadership skills & competencies.

7. Ability to converse in Arabic is highly desirable

8. Valid UAE Driving License
