Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager
To lead quality management systems, philosophies and methodologies by implementing policies, procedures, strategies & quality objectives consistent with business needs & customer expectations.
Person Specifications:
- 4 or 5 years Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Post graduate degree is desirable.
- Total of 15 years experience, 7 years of which is in a senior quality assurance position
- ASQ certification in CQM/OE, CQA, CQE is desirable
- In depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 compliant quality system, quality audits, regulatory compliance
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the implementation of process/performance improvement initiatives
- Experience in root cause analysis SPC,TQM, FMEA, 5S, Kaizen and other lean manufacturing tools
- Structural steel fabrication experience in Transmission & Telecom towers is an advantage
- Proficient in the use of MS Office, MS Project, ERP (preferably Oracle). Minitab experience is an advantage
- Team player with excellent leadership, interpersonal & communications skills in English language
- Office & plant environment, subject to stress caused by changing tasks, tight deadlines & heavy workload and some travel required
Evaluation of Quality Management systems:
- Reviews Quality Management systems in the business unit at planned intervals.
- Defines the changes and guides the detailing and documentation of modified quality procedures/ reference tables and forms in conformance with ISO norms / customer certification requirements / TQM initiatives.
QMS Management:
- Manages Quality System. Proactively develops and maintains quality systems and procedures in line with changes in business requirements, standards and regulations.
- Plans and leads internal product, process & procedure compliance audits to verify effectiveness and efficiency of implementation.
- Act as a Lead Auditor, guides and counsels Internal Auditors for effective Internal Quality Audits.
- Facilitates and approves Inspection & Testing Plans (ITP) and other Quality Plans as required by Clients? Contract or Inquiry Documents.
- Develops, maintains and controls QA/QC manual
- Oversees incoming materials, in-process and pre-shipment inspections.
- Conducts periodic Management Review to ensure effectiveness of QMS.
- Maintains certifications issued by second / third parties like ISO, ARAMCO, SEC, AREVA, LAPEM, etc.
- Ensures customer, statutory & regulatory requirements are properly interpreted and complied with.
- Monitors customer complaints. Applies root cause analysis and problem solving tools to improve products, processes and people. Oversees implementation of corrective action.
- Administers corrective action response process as per internal SOP and of customers.
Process Improvement:
- Leads and champions process/continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
- Identifies key processes and provides guidance to process improvement teams in mapping / analyzing / improving processes to achieve operational efficiencies
- Contributes to the design of effective solutions.
- Establishes metrics and develops systems to monitor process performance.
Cost of Quality (COQ)
- Monitors COQ and establishes strategies and plans to reduce COQ.
Subcontractors / Supplier evaluation:
- Develops and implements subcontractor's selection and evaluation program.
- Works together with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
- Recommends appropriate strategies for achieving desirable quality levels
Human Resources Management:
- Maintains staffing levels based on company standards.
- Identifies training needs and arranges staff training in achieving company's strategic plan
- Conducts regular communication meetings with staff to inform them of quality performance results and trends and to improve their decision making skills.
- Develops KRAs & KPIs for subordinates. Provides guidance/assistance to subordinates to achieve targets
- Promotes cooperation & team work and lead by example
- Maintains good relationships with internal functional groups and external customers and suppliers
Reporting & Misc:
- As and when required, writes technical and management reports on out-standing issues.
- Prepares weekly & monthly reports as per schedule.
- Oversees preparation of customer satisfaction evaluation reports.
- Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
